Department
President Sharon Helton
Welcomes you to the
2011-2012 Department of Texas VFW Ladies Auxillary Website
To
the Dear Sisters of Texas:
As we begin yet another
year working for our veterans and communities, we must make sure that we
remember why we joined this great organization. We joined because we had a
heartfelt passion to help our veterans, communities, and youth. We as an
organization have an obligation to teach and educate the public on all of
our programs and our Departmant chairmen for this year have worked very hard
to prepare information to ensure that we educate, inform, and assist our
communities in every way.
We must honor our veterans old
and young, active and retired. We have many programs available to aid the
military on duty, their families here at home, veterans at home, veterans in
hospitals and/or nursing facilities. We must utilize them at every
opportunity and never at any time forget what we are here for.
Take pride in your Auxiliaries
and your VFW post home. Work WITH
your VFW Post in every way. Stay out of VFW business. Forget petty jealousy
and power struggles. Get along with your Auxiliary sisters and VFW members.
We are all different and there will always be differences of opinion but
there is no reason for dissension among members. So work on these issues
each and every day and practice getting along with others. A smile, a
friendly hello, a thank you and a simple please, go a long way.
Sisters, you can work the
programs and have fun while you do it. You don’t have to dread going to
meetings or events. When a member steps up and presents a tasteful, fun way
to raise money, complete an event or present a program, listen, it just
might be worth listening to. There are many auxiliary sisters just waiting
for the chance to show what they can do, to help with their favorite program
or to just help!!! Give new members with new ideas a chance!
I am looking forward to serving
for and with you this year. Texas has the very best Ladies Auxiliary in the
USA and we can without a doubt prove that in every way this year in our
programs, membership, attitude, and the care we give our veterans. I am also
looking forward to working with Commander John Spahr as he is definitely an
asset to the Department of Texas.
We are
“Going
Above and Beyond the Call of Duty to Help Our Veterans”
and
have an awesome year doing it, and, we will
“Step Up- Never Leave A Veteran Behind”
while doing it.
Loyally
and with Love
Sharon Helton
